Elephant Falls

Elephant Falls is in Shillong and is one of the most famous waterfalls in Meghalaya. Long time back there was a big rock here that looked like an elephant and that is how the name came. Now that rock is not there but people still call it Elephant Falls. The waterfall has three steps and you can go down and see each one. It is in Upper Shillong area. From Shillong city you can take a taxi and reach in twenty minutes. Best time to visit is October to May because the weather stays nice.

Krang Suri Falls

Krang Suri is a very pretty waterfalls in Meghalaya and the water looks bright blue which surprises many people. It is in Jaintia Hills near Amlarem. From Jowai you can take a taxi and after reaching the place you need to walk for some minutes. The walk is easy and the path is made with stones. The height is around sixty to seventy feet. Visit during November to April because the water becomes clear and the weather stays safe.

Seven Sisters Waterfalls is also called Nohsngithiang Falls. It is near Mawsmai village in Cherrapunji. During heavy rain the waterfall becomes huge and breaks into seven parts so people gave the name Seven Sisters. It looks amazing from the viewpoint which is very easy to reach. Best time to see this fall is monsoon season from June to September when water flows very strongly. It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Meghalaya.

Dainthlen Falls

Dainthlen Falls near Sohra Meghalaya

Dainthlen Falls is near Sohra and has a strong flow. Water falls on rocks and then goes into a deep hole. According to local story a giant snake called Thlen was killed here. Because of this many people find this place very interesting. Height is around eighty feet. You can reach very easily because it is near the main road. Best time to visit is October to March when the area is safe for walking.

Wei Sawdong Falls

Wei Sawdong is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Meghalaya but it needs trekking. It has three levels and the water looks clean and a bit greenish. It is near Sohra. To go there you have to climb down from a forest trail that is a little scary but also very fun. The height is around one hundred and fifty feet. Best time to visit is November to February because the trail stays dry.

Rainbow Falls

Rainbow Falls is near Nongriat village. Many people love this place because sometimes you can see a rainbow near the water. The water is very clean with blue shade. To reach here you must trek from the double decker root bridge. The trek is long and tiring but the view makes you forget everything. Best time to visit is October to April.

Lyngksiar Falls

Nohkalikai is one of the tallest waterfalls in Meghalaya, India. It is in Cherrapunji. The water falls from a big height and forms a blue pool below. The view from the top is unbelievable. There is also a sad local story behind its name which people usually share with visitors. To reach here you can take a taxi from Cherrapunji. Best time to come is September to March when the sky stays clear.
